My name is Sage, I am a 24 year old horse person based in the beautiful Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Canada. With well over a decade of experience with horses, from starting out taking traditionally taught lessons to seeking out new techniques and knowledge, I have experienced a vast array of horsemanship methods.
My practice is rooted in positive reinforcement and force / coercion free training. My own horse has been so important to my learning how to ethically and respectfully work with many different kinds of horses.
Years of experience, work and research have gone into becoming the horse person I am today. Ever since I got my first horse I wanted to work with people and their horses to create better relationships and better the lives of horses.
When I first decided I wanted to work professionally with horses I was only a young teenager. My vision then was to be a riding instructor, it has since changed quite a bit. Now my services are centred around non-ridden activities, lessons, and training. I myself stopped riding years ago due to growing my knowledge of equine behaviour and coming to the conclusion my own horse was not happy being a riding horse. It has drastically improved our relationship and I now hope to help others find ways to enjoy their own relationships with their horses without the need to ride. Of course I am not against riding, I simply do not myself.
I have and continue to study equine psychology and movement science and I am committed to working my way toward my equine behaviourist certification. I am a big believer in continued education for all professions and am constantly learning and challenging what I know.
